Social Responsibility

At Scutte, we want to go above and beyond basic ethical business practice and embrace our responsibility to pets, people and the planet.

Firstoff, we believe that success should not come at the expense of the environment, so we strive to operate in a way that is mindful of long-term environmental sustainability. We do as much as we can to save time, energy and resources. This includes running a paperless office, which not only reduces our printed consumption but we also manage to stay tidier and more organized (not a bad thing!). If we do need to print something, (like promo postcards, business cards, etc), we use recycled paper with post consumer content and unbleached, process chlorine-free pulp. All press printed materials are printed on recycled paper using soy based inks.

Also as you know, Scutte products are made from recycled materials – which reduces the need to create new textiles from scratch. We go on a rigorous hunt to find the right materials to use for our products, using existing garments that would have otherwise been thrown away. This is the perfect way to make cool stylish doggie clothes without having to recreate graphics or mimic designs and concepts = instant fashion! We even use the remnants from our clothing line to make accessories and cool cat and dog toys, yay!

Besides wanting to save the planet while keeping pets looking cool and stylish, Scutte also wants to make a deep and lasting impact on the community (and we try to go beyond our capacity to just write checks to nonprofits). So in addition to monetary contributions, you can find us behind the scenes at community events, benefits and galas, and donating clothing and toys to rescue organizations.

Our non-profit partner, Muttville, is a wonderful San Francisco based organization that rescues senior dogs. All of the dogs modeling Scutte clothes are rescue dogs and have either been recently placed or are currently looking for new homes. To find out more about our Muttville models, please click here.
